Maharashtra Assembly Session: In a seemingly awkward situation on Thursday, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray came face-to-face while waiting for a lift at the state Assembly premises to attend the first day of the ongoing Monsoon Session. The duo, known for cutthroat verbal exchanges in the political arena, were seen candidly engaging in a brief conversation.

The interaction took place as the former Chief Ministers remained surrounded by several others, including those who appeared to be members of their respective staffs. They got on the same lift later. On being asked by the media about the exchange, Thackeray jokingly said, "From here on, we will do all our secret meetings in the lift."

"When Devendraji and I were in the lift, people must have thought of the song, 'na na karte pyar tumhi se kar baithe' (a classic from the 1965 film Jab Jab Phool Khile)," the Opposition leader was further quoted as saying by NDTV. The ongoing session of the Assembly will last through July 12. This is the last session of the current state Assembly as Maharashtra is slated to go to the polls later this year.
