Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana: In a significant move to empower women, the Maharashtra government has allocated Rs 36,000 crore for the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana in the 2025-26 state budget. This flagship welfare scheme aims to provide financial assistance to eligible women, ensuring economic independence and social security.
Under this scheme, 2.53 crore eligible women across Maharashtra receive a monthly grant of Rs 1,500 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The initiative is designed to uplift women by providing financial stability, helping them meet essential expenses, and promoting self-reliance.
Despite discussions about increasing the payout, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis clarified that the existing financial structure will remain unchanged to maintain economic balance. “We must ensure financial stability while fulfilling our commitments,” he stated.
Eligibility Criteria for the Ladki Bahin Yojana
To qualify for the scheme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a resident of Maharashtra
- Be married, widowed, divorced, abandoned, or an unmarried woman (one per family)
- Fall within the age range of 21 to 65 years
- Have an Aadhaar-linked personal bank account
- Have a family income of Rs 2.50 lakh or less per year
