The Jharkhand government has launched an investigation into the illegal beneficiaries of the Maiya Samman Yojana, a scheme that provides a financial aid of Rs 2,500 to women across the state.
The government has initiated a thorough review of the scheme to identify and remove ineligible beneficiaries. This move aims to ensure that the financial aid is directed only to those who genuinely qualify for it.
A meeting of bank managers and Maiya Samman Yojana workers was held under the leadership of LDM Amrit Kumar Chaudhary in the auditorium located at Giridih headquarters. At the meeting, LDM while addressing all the bank managers said that names and account numbers of all the beneficiaries of Maiya Samman Yojana should be checked and actions will be taken against those who seek these beneficiaries illegally.
Criteria For Removal From The Beneficiary List
Authorities have been directed to mark beneficiaries receiving funds from multiple schemes, including the Widow Pension Scheme and Women's Honor Scheme, in addition to the Maiya Samman Yojana.
Beneficiaries who would be found receiving financial aid from more than one Maiya Samman Yojana account will have their names removed from the list and further action will be taken against them.
Authorities indicated that anyone below 18 years of age, who are availing benefits under the scheme, will get their account numbers recorded in an Excel sheet.
Actions will be taken against males who are receiving benefits instead of females or under their names.

Authorities claimed that a total of 17,800 applications were received for the Maiya Samman Yojana in the Tisri block, out of which 15,625 beneficiaries are currently receiving financial aid.
SBI Khijuri manager Anu Ranjan Kumar, third SBI manager Jayant Kumar Baranwal, Indian Bank Chandori manager A Kamal, MO Rajan Kumar, block coordinator Santosh Verma, operator Mandeep Kumar, Sandil, and many other workers were present in the meeting.
BJP’s state spokesperson Pratul Shahdev criticised the Hemant Soren government, alleging indifference towards implementing central government schemes in Jharkhand. He claimed that while the Chief Minister and the Finance Minister frequently submit memorandums to central ministers, the execution of existing schemes remains poor.
He highlighted the following issues:
The state government did not submit the utility certificate for the central government’s share in MGNREGA and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana that resulted in delayed funds.
Despite receiving central funds for the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the state government did not make timely payments to many private hospitals.
The condition of every home tap water scheme has become very bad. The central government is ready to provide all possible help to the state. The state government should make good use of the central government's money, said Pratul Shahdev.
