Malda: Surajit Saha, the former Youth Trinamool Congress president of the Gajol block in Malda district, has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to commit a robbery. The police are currently conducting further investigation into the matter.

Night Patrol Foils Robbery Bid In Malda; Former TMC Leader Arrested
During a routine night patrol on July 15, Gajol Police arrested two individuals allegedly plotting a robbery. Authorities recovered a sophisticated single-shot firearm, a live cartridge, an iron crowbar, and other items from their possession. However, several other suspects managed to flee the scene.
During the interrogation, the arrested suspects implicated former Trinamool Congress leader Surajit Saha in the conspiracy, leading to his subsequent arrest. Saha, however, has denied all allegations, labelling the charges against him as completely baseless.
BJP MLA Demands Strict Action, Claims More TMC Leaders Involved
Reacting to the arrest, Gajol BJP MLA Chinmoy Deb Burman stated that several allegations are already pending against Surajit Saha. He further claimed that several other Trinamool Congress leaders face similar serious allegations and demanded immediate action against all involved.

Meanwhile, senior Trinamool Congress leader Krishnendu Narayan Choudhary emphasised that if the allegations are proven true, the party will not support anyone under any circumstances. He stated that the law will take its own course and maintained that no one found guilty will be spared.
Calcutta HC Stays Demolition Drive At Abhishek Banerjee's Office
Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court on Sunday stayed the demolition of the office of Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary and Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee in South 24 Parganas, a day after authorities launched a demolition drive against the property.
The demolition began on Saturday morning at Banerjee's office in Amtala on the Amtala-Baruipur Road. The administration brought in bulldozers after issuing a notice alleging that the office had been constructed without the requisite approvals.
