Patil refused to call off his indefinite hunger strike even as the state government in the all-party meeting unanimously passed in resolution in favour of the Maratha reservation.
Expressing his discontent, Patil asked the government why they needed additional time when they were in favour of the demand. He also sought a detailed explanation of the government’s plan to grant reservations to the Maratha community. "The government says they want time. They should tell us how much time it takes and also tell us what the problem is in giving reservations to the Maratha community. They should tell what they are going to do in detail," HT quoted Jarange asserting at the fast venue in Jalna.
"The government should tell why it needs time and whether they are ready to give reservations to the entire Maratha community. Then Marathas will think about it," he added.
The issue has caused massive outrage across the state for the last few days. Widespread agitations and violent activities have been reported from across the state. The protesters set ablaze the houses and offices of MLAs across parties in Beed and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar districts.
