Maratha Reservation:The Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil has announced statewide 'Rasta Roko' on March 3 to demand the implementation of 'Sage Soyare' ordinance notification. The Maharashtra Assembly has passed the Maratha Reservation Bill for reservation in education and jobs yesterday. In the day, he staged a protest against the passage of the Maratha quota bill and accused the government of deceiving the community by not granting them reservations under the OBC category.

Patil, the activist who led the movement to provide caste-based reservations to Marathas, welcomed the reservation bill but contended that the reservation which has been proposed was not as per the community's demand.
"We need reservation which we deserve, give us reservation under OBC to those whose proof of being kunbi has been found and those who don't have proof of kunbi, for them pass a law of 'Sage Soyare'," Patil said as quoted by news agency ANI.
Patil began his indefinite hunger strike on February 10, demanding the inclusion of Marathas into the Other Backward Classes to get a reservation. He has been demanding to convert the draft notification on 'blood relatives' of Kunbi Marathas into law. The Maratha community has been seeking reservations in education and jobs under the OBC category.
