In a chilling late-night incident, a group of more than six masked men broke into the residence of Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari in the Bijalpur neighbourhood of Indore’s Rajender Nagar area on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. The masked men disabled the electricity and CCTV systems around 2 AM, ransacked the office section of the house and prowled the neighbourhood for nearly two and a half hours, leaving residents terrified.

With faces covered with masks, the men entered the premises with precision. They broke drawers and lockers in the office section of the home. However, mobile phones were curiously left untouched, raising speculation that the raid may have had motives beyond theft.
The intruders did not stop here. In their two and a half hours of rampage, they attempted to break into at least three more homes in the Bijalpur neighbourhood. The group attempted break-ins at the homes of Nagar Panchayat CMO Rajkumar Thakur, MPEB officer Narendra Dubey, and the Arya family in Punasa, using similar tactics of cutting through window nets.
According to the residents, the gang entered the Bijalpur neighbourhood at around 2 AM and was last seen around 4:30 AM. The movement of masked men in one of Indore's key localities has shaken both the community and the political establishment.

Though the intruders disabled the CCTV cameras at Patwari’s residence, partial footage of the masked men was captured by the CCTV cameras installed at neighbouring homes, including those of Narendra Dubey and Rajkumar Thakur. The grainy footage shows more than a dozen half-masked men sneaking through the neighbourhood and entering Patwari’s residence. Further investigation is underway with the police treating the CCTV footage as a crucial lead.
Police suspect the involvement of the notorious Bank Tanda gang, a gang known for a string of robberies in Rajendra Nagar, Rau, and Tejaji Nagar. While several members of the gang have been arrested in the past, many are reportedly out on bail and are believed to be active again, NDTV reported. Tejaji Nagar Inspector Devendra Markam confirmed their involvement while stressing that the investigation is currently underway.
