Meerut Merchant Navy Officer Murder: A chilling new development has surfaced in the gruesome murder of Navy officer Saurabh Rajput in Meerut. A recently discovered video shows the accused, Muskan Rastogi, happily dancing with her husband Saurabh and their six-year-old daughter, Pihu, just days before his brutal killing.

According to a News18 report, the video was recorded on February 28, during their daughter’s birthday celebration at a restaurant. The footage has been widely shared online, triggering mixed reactions. Many believe Muskan, who allegedly masterminded the murder, displayed extraordinary acting skills by pretending to be affectionate toward her husband.

Gruesome Murder and Disposal of the Body

Police officials reported that Muskan and Sahil confessed to stabbing Saurabh to death on March 4. After killing him, they dismembered his body—severing his head and hands before stuffing the remains into a drum and sealing it with cement. The accused were arrested on Tuesday and have been placed under 14-day judicial custody.

How the Murder Was Discovered ?

The crime came to light in a shocking way. While moving house, some labourers attempted to shift a heavy drum when its lid accidentally came loose. A foul stench filled the air, revealing the presence of a decomposed body. The workers immediately alerted the police, who seized the drum and sent it for forensic examination. It reportedly took over six hours to extract the body from the drum.

The report also cited police sources, revealing that the woman previously thought to be Muskan’s mother—who has been demanding the death penalty for the accused couple, is actually her stepmother.

Muskan’s Past and Her Dream of Stardom

According to News18 Hindi, Muskan had long aspired to become a film actress. Her dreams had previously led to family conflicts, a failed marriage, and legal disputes.

Adding another twist to the case, police sources revealed that the woman initially believed to be Muskan’s mother is actually her stepmother. The stepmother has been demanding the death penalty for Muskan and Sahil.

Chilling Revelations About the Accused

Further investigations uncovered disturbing details. After the murder, Muskan and Sahil were spotted carrying Saurabh’s severed head and palm in a bag. During this period, Muskan also bought a drum and a knife from a local market. Authorities are now questioning the shopkeepers to gather solid evidence for stricter punishment.

A shopkeeper confirmed that a woman matching Muskan’s description purchased a drum for Rs 1,100 without bargaining, raising further suspicions.

Saurabh Knew About His Wife’s Affair

Another shocking detail has emerged, Saurabh had discovered Muskan’s extramarital affair in 2021 and had already filed for divorce. However, Muskan allegedly drugged him before carrying out the murder. Pharmacy records confirm that the medicines were purchased from a local medical store.

Meanwhile, the shopkeeper who sold the knife is uncertain if Muskan bought it from his store, adding another layer of complexity to the case.

Family Claims Cover-Up

Saurabh’s family strongly refutes Muskan’s parents’ claims of innocence. His mother, Renu Devi, believes Muskan’s family was aware of the murder and reported it to the police only to protect themselves from legal trouble.

She also alleged that her granddaughter, Pihu, knew about the crime, claiming the child once said, “Papa is in the drum.” However, police dismissed this statement, suggesting she only became aware after the case was exposed.

SP City Ayush Vikram Singh stated that Pihu was present when Muskan recounted the incident to her family. Police sources revealed that Muskan informed her relatives about the murder on March 18, after which they took her to the police station.

Manipulating Superstitions to Plan Murder

Perhaps the most bizarre revelation is how Muskan manipulated Sahil using his superstitions. Investigators found that she posed as Sahil’s deceased mother on Snapchat, convincing him that his mother’s spirit wanted Saurabh dead.

Police believe Muskan assumed that Saurabh’s family wouldn’t look for him after his murder since he had been estranged from them for the past two years due to their disapproval of his marriage.
