Meet Kanchi Patel, Ahmedabad Dentist Who Set Up EV Two-Wheeler Company In Five Years

Youth can have more than one profession and often feel free to take up their passion or hobby as a career. A perfect example of the same is Kanchi Patel, a dentist based in Ahmedabad, who turned her dream into reality. Let us take a dive into her success story from being a dentist to becoming an entrepreneur.

After completing her dental studies, Kanchi Patel pursued a career as a dentist. However, she wanted something more. With hard work and determination over five years, Patel finally established her own electric two-wheeler company 'ABZO MOTORS'.

ABZO Motors' stylish and powerful cruiser electric bike is enticing everyone in the market today. Speaking to Dainik Jagran, Kanchi Patel, Director of ABZO Motors, said, "After becoming a dentist, I did not want to make a career in it, I wanted to start my startup."

She added, "I grew up in Ahmedabad, so I am a staunch Ahmedabadi. I have completed my studies as a dentist. After studying to be a dentist, I did not want to make a career in it. When I was studying, I told my father that I wanted to start a business. In the year 2017-18, I was constantly thinking that the thought came to me that the entire future is moving towards sustainability. As global warming increases in our world, we all need to gradually move towards an eco-friendly future.”

"So I was thinking how can we contribute to this? We already have the Lyft business which is vertical transportation similar to an electric vehicle. That's where the idea came from, let's do the same but it has to be like horizontal transportation. After this, we started researching for it and started designing. Thus, after continuous efforts, we created this cruiser bike and started ABZO Motors Company," said Patel.

Patel said that this EV two-wheeler took five years to be designed and completed. Narrating her journey, Patel said, "We started research in 2018. Gradually formed an R&D team. After this, in the year 2019, my father and I went to visit Tesla's company. In which we understood how electric vehicles are made. In which we learned about foundation and fundamentals. After coming here, we made 3D models in our own way. A big frame was made from this. After this came the final prototype, in which it was designed to be more comfortable and better looking. Our bike seats are exclusively designed and manufactured by us. The handlebars of the bike have been placed in such a way that no one feels too long and no one feels short. Apart from this, the footrest has been placed in such a way that it provides comfort. It took 5 years to do all these little things."

Kanchi said that ABZO was designed by her brother. She also mentioned how it was a challenge for them to think of something that could give long range in terms of battery. So it took them a lot of time to work with its speed and range.

"When I was in my last year as a dentist, I had to study 8 to 9 subjects. But my family was my support system. When my exams were going on and bike work was going on, he would give me time and not put pressure on me. This way there was constant communication between us and I had a support system. We should keep this in mind while making the bike frame. In this, we did some different trials to see whether the motor we installed would give perfect power or not. This required continuous error and repeat. The bike shield must be mounted properly, reverse mode must be on. We have created this bike by doing a little research on all of them," she said.

Speaking of the name of her company ABZO, she said, “I have two dogs Abril and Enzo. By combining the names of both, we have named our company Abjo. However, I am an animal lover and my future goal is to open a big animal shelter. Apart from this, I also want to tell you that for those who want to be successful in any field, write down whatever ideas come to you. If you have it written down, you can work on it easily. If you always talk to grandparents and father in the family, you will learn a lot from their experiences.”
