The decomposed body of a 33-year-old Gurugram man identified as Prince Rana was found in a canal in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Prince, who worked as a project manager for an app aggregator, had left his home in Gurugram's Sector 22 on January 15 without informing his family of his whereabouts. His wife filed a missing person report the next day of his disappearance.
According to NDTV, Prince also left his phone behind and his browsing history showed searches for ‘suicide points’. The Ghaziabad Police was alerted to the discovery of a body near the Gangnahar canal, also known as Ganga Canal.
Upon investigating the decomposed remains, they found an Aadhaar card in the wallet, which helped confirm the identity as Prince, after his family recognized him. The body has been sent for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Siddharth Gautam stated that the Gurugram police would take over the investigation, as a missing person report was filed in their jurisdiction. Authorities are now awaiting the post-mortem report, which could provide further details about the circumstances surrounding Prince's death.
"We have sent the body for autopsy. We can provide information only after the autopsy. Gurugram police are investigating the matter. His family said he had searched 'suicide point' on his phone. Post-mortem report will provide more information," the officer was quoted as saying by NDTV.
