A unique theft case was reported in Bihar’s Buxar district, as a 132-foot mobile tower, along with a 15 kVA generator and other equipment, allegedly went missing from its installation site in Dumraon.

The disappearance came to light when employees of GTL Infrastructure arrived for repair work and found the entire structure missing from the location where it had stood for years.

Police have since registered a complaint and begun an investigation into what is being described as an unusual and puzzling case of theft.

Along with the tower, a generator set and several technical devices installed at the location were also missing, according to the complaint filed with Dumraon police.

Following the report, authorities have started probing how such a large structure could disappear without immediate detection.

The landowner, Harenath Yadav, provided details about the long-standing agreement with the telecom company.

“As no payment was received, notices were sent to the company on four occasions, but no action was taken. Now we have come to know that the tower and all related equipment have disappeared," ETV Bharat quoted Yadav.

He further stated that the company had signed a 12-year agreement in 2010 to install the tower on his land, which expired in 2022. He also alleged that payments stopped after the agreement ended.

Residents Say Tower Had Stood For Over 15 Years

According to locals, the mobile tower had been stationed in the residential area for close to 15 years. But some locals observed recently that the tower had disappeared over the past few weeks, and they assumed that the dismantling had been done officially.

The case only came to light when the mobile company lodged a complaint, which has given rise to questions and discussions among residents. Speaking on the issue, Buxar SP, Shubham Arya, stated that a complaint about the dismantling has been received.

An investigation is underway to ascertain whether the tower was dismantled legally or if it has been illegally removed. Local reports also say that statements from the landowner and company representatives will be recorded.

The whole town is abuzz with questions as to how a 132-foot structure has gone missing from the location without any official announcement. The police are continuing their investigation, and more information is expected to surface soon.
