Weather Updates LIVE: Amarnath Yatra Resumes After 3 Days Of Bad Weather; Red Alert In Uttarakhand

"A red alert has been issued in four districts. We are in alert mode. CM also took the review yesterday. Only one unfortunate incident has taken place in which 4 people died and seven were injured. Rest everything is under control. We are continuously working to ensure the safety of people," Disaster Management Secretary Ranjit Sinha said, according to ANI.

"Delhi LG VK Saxena chaired a meeting with senior officials of stakeholder agencies - PWD, NDMC, MCD, DJB, I&FC & Railways to review the situation and devise workable solutions to overcome severe waterlogging in Delhi. LG visited waterlogging-prone sites including Pragati Maidan Tunnel, Minto Bridge and Zakhira Underpass this morning," Lieutinant Governor's office said in a statement.

"The team is deployed everywhere in the state. We are continuously working to ensure the safety of the people. We have set up four lines and trying to contact people across the country to inform them about their families. 200 people have been contacted since morning and their family has been informed about their well-being. We are also contacting the embassies," Acting DGP of Himachal Pradesh Satwant Atwal Trivedi said, ANI reported.

A total of 39 NDRF teams have been deployed in Delhi, Uttarakhand, Punjab and other states amid heavy rain alerts. Teams from Odisha and Maharashtra are also on standby. Shimla faces drinking water scarcity amid severe incessant rainfall. Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Ltd (SJPNL) supplies water to people through tankers.

"There has been a lot of loss to the state because of the disaster. Be it the water schemes, roads or the dams...In Shimla, we have hired private tankers and Nagar Nigam's tankers are also providing water. All MCD schools, MCD-aided and Recognised schools will remain closed for students on 11th July in Delhi, in view of heavy rainfall.

Amid incessant rains, a road at Kokunala in the Kotkhai subdivision of Shimla collapsed. 

Shobhan Chaudhari, General Manager, Northern Railway, said "Around 24 trains running on the Delhi-Ambala route have been cancelled following inclement weather in North India...It is not possible to give an estimate of monetary loss right now."

Traffic is affected on NH-48 in both the carriageways from Dhaula Kuan Flyover towards Gurugram and vice-versa due to waterlogging. Commuters are advised to plan their journey accordingly, said Delhi Traffic Police

Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu attends a review meeting of the State Disaster Management Authority, (SDMA). He said, the initial estimate of loss ranges between Rs 3000 crore to Rs 4000 crore and efforts are underway to evacuate around 300 stranded tourists and residents in Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu districts by using helicopters once the weather permits.
The Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra has been directed to halt for the rest of the season due to six deaths reported during the pilgrimage.

"Trees were uprooted at 13 locations in the city due to heavy rain on Sunday and as a result, traffic was disrupted at 9 places in the city. Waterlogging was reported at 70 locations," said Delhi special CP of traffic, Surender Singh Yadav.

All schools in Haryana's Panchkula has been closed on 11th & 12th July due to consistent rainfall in the area, said District Education Officer

Continuous rain has been pouring in the national capital since Monday morning.  

The Mandi's Panchvaktra temple has been submerged in water due to a spate in the Beas River following incessant heavy rainfall.

"We have rescued 80 people today. The situation is bad as the water level of the river is rising. Our team is on alert and we are reviewing the areas alongside the river Beas," SSP Mandi, Soumya Sambasivan said according to ANI.

IMD issues Red Alert for Chandigarh, Panchkula (Haryana) and Mohali (Punjab); heavy rainfall expected in next three hours, ANI reported.

"There is a state of complete disaster in Mandi district. Many buildings, bridges and parking lots have been washed away. Our local teams and SHOs have done good work in evacuating citizens," Mandi SSP Soumya Sambasivan said, according to ANI.

Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that floof-like situation is not likely in the city. He also said that the government is prepared to deal with any situation that arises, ANI reported.

"As per CWC, Yamuna river is flowing at 203.58 meters in Delhi. It is expected to reach 205.5 meters tomorrow morning. Also, according to weather predictions, the water level in Yamuna is not expected to rise too high. If Yamuna crosses the 206 mtr mark, then we will start evacuation along the banks of the river," Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, according to ANI.

Torrential rain in the national capital for the last few days has started to affect the functioning of the Delhi High Court. Due to leakage, three courtrooms have been shifted to another room, ANI reported.

Yamuna river in Delhi has come very close to crossing the 205 metres-level beyond which water level is considered dangerous. At 12:00 pm Monday, water level in Yamuna was recorded at 204.36 metres at the Old Railway Bridge, ANI reported.

"There is unprecedented loss due to the rainfall this time...Entire villages are being evacuated, Himachal Pradesh is seeing such a situation for the first time...Govt should have made timely preparations...I feel this was taken a little casually this time...But I thank NDRF, Union HM Amit Shah & all the teams who have worked to rescue people...I had a detailed conversation with party chief JP Nadda, he too expressed his concerns for the state & condoled the demise of people. We have ordered everyone in the party to extend all possible help to the people...I also spoke with the PMO & gave them all details on the situation at the state. Thunag area in my constituency suffered huge losses...I will try to visit both Mandi & Kullu," former Chief Minister and BJP leader Jairam Thakur said, according to ANI.

"As per our calculations, it seems that by tomorrow morning, the water level of river Yamuna will cross the danger mark. We are monitoring the flow of water in case the rainfall continues...It is expected that the river will cross the danger mark tomorrow, at Old Yamuna Railway Bridge. Announcements have been made, & people living in flood plains are being evacuated. Boats have been stationed & they have proper rescue equipment. Arrangements are being made for people who have been evacuated...CM has called a review meeting today," Delhi Minister Atishi Marlena said, according to ANI.'Yamun

"The damage due to unprecedented rainfall is before you to see. Since there is a Red Alert for 10-11 July, we decided to shut schools & colleges and we will review the situation in the time to come so that the decision we take is for the safety of students...CM has constituted a committee,& we will review all the aspects. CM is taking minute-by-minute feedback on everything. Our Govt will take a decision that is best in such adverse situations," Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Minister Rohit Thakur said, according to ANI.

"I again request the people of Himachal, please stay inside your homes for the next 24 hours because there is a chance of heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours...we have arranged 3 helpline numbers 1100, 1070 and 1077...you can call these numbers in case of any emergency and I will also be available 24 hours," CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, according to ANI.

"There has been unprecedented heavy rainfall in the past 3 days...This has caused massive damage, especially to the infrastructure, roads, drinking water facilities, fields of farmers as well as houses...Nine people died in 3 days; around 250 houses damaged. Several roads affected and numerous landslides reported," Himachal Pradesh Minister Jagat Singh Negi said, according to ANI.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that all schools in the national capital will remain closed tomorrow, July 10, due to incessant rainfall.

Several places in Delhi have been facing waterlogging as eavy rain pounded several parts of north India. The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rain for Delhi, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab and Jammu, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh,and Kashmir.,

A bus travelling from Gawari Gandoh to Jammu was hit by a mudslide near Bhanghroo in Gandoh, J&K today. 

Chamba-Pathankot national highway blocked near Banikhet due to the development of cracks in the road, said HP Traffic, Tourist & Railways Police

Northern Railway informed that till now, 20 trains are affected due to heavy rains in the northern parts of the country. 

All schools and colleges in Mandi will remain closed for tomorrow due to ongoing heavy rain in the district, said Arindam Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner Mandi. 

Badrinath National Highway have been shut due to landslide near Chhinka and NH-9 closed in the Kumaon division at Champawat in Uttarakhand.

"All Delhi ministers and Mayor will inspect areas where people are facing problems due to waterlogging following heavy rainfall in the city. Officers of all departments have been instructed to be on the ground," says Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

The Chandigarh-Manali highway in Himachal has been shut down due to a landslide. Traffic between Mandi and Kullu has been blocked following a massive landslide along the swollen Beas River.

In Punjab, the IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain on Sunday. Under orange alert, residents are advised to stay alert and be prepared. The rain intensity will decrease from Monday onwards, but the chances of light to moderate rain will continue.

Due to heavy rains, the movement of vehicles from Kullu and Manali towards Atal Tunnel and Rohtang has been completely stopped due to falling of stones at many places on the Kullu-Manali road and due to the increase in water level in Beas river near Ramshila, said Kullu Police

After Incessant rains in various parts of north India , the Losar village in Lahaul-Spiti district received unexpected sudden snowfall.

Streets waterlogged in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad as a result of continuous rainfall in the area since yesterday.

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway continues to remain closed for the second day for vehicular traffic due to multiple landslides, officials said on Sunday. "NH-44 is still closed, Mughal road again blocked due to landslide at Ratta Chamb. People are advised not to travel without confirmation from Traffic Control Unit (TCU)...," Jammu and Kashmir traffic police said.
The traffic police further said that the clearance work is in progress.

Several parts of Kerala and Lakshadweep on Saturday witnessed heavy rains which left various residential areas of the city waterlogged. IMD tweeted, "Rain occurred at most places in Kerala and Lakshadweep. A yellow alert has been issued in the Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragode districts of Kerala."

Due to heavy rains in Bilaspur district, landslides have occurred at various places on four lanes and link roads connected to four lanes. Keeping view of the situation, authorities have issues traffic warnings. 

The IMD has warned of flash floods and avalanches in the Lahul and Spiti district. "Due to the continuous and heavy rainfall in the district of Lahul and Spiti, there is a great possibility of flash flooding and avalanches," read an official statement by the national weather forecaster.

A flash flood and a landslide occurred in Gramphu village and Chota Dharra in the wee hours of Sunday. No casualties were reported in the incident. According to officials, a group of 30 college students were rescued safely after they were struck on the road due to a landslide.

Three people, including a woman, were killed in separate incidents of lightning strikes in the Mainpuri district of UP on Saturday. 3 people also got injured due to lightning strikes. The injured are undergoing treatment. Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased will be given, said Ramji Mishra, Additional District Magistrate, Mainpuri

This week, according to IMD, North-West India, including Delhi will witness rain, the intensity of the rain will be high for 2-3 days and intensity will reduce after that...there will be some relief from heat during this period.

After 24 hours of continues rains in Delhi, massive traffic congestion and waterlogging were seen in several parts of the city. Several market areas, including Connaught Place in central Delhi, faced waterlogging issues and less footfall of customers.

On Sunday, Delhiiites woke up to rain lashing several parts of the city. Following heavy rain on Saturday, as many as 15 houses collapsed and one person died, said a Delhi Fire Service official.
