MUDA Case: In a major relief to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the Karnataka High Court on Friday refused to transfer the alleged Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam case to the Central Bureau of Investigation. The petitioners had urged the court to transfer the case from Lokayukta police to the CBI, stating that the state police was not investigating the case properly.

Justice M Nagaprasanna dismissed the petition by stating that the investigation does not indicate that the chief minister was given any priority. “The material on record does not indicate that the investigation conducted by Lokayukta is partisan or lood sidedor shoddy for this court to refer the matter to CBI for further investigation or reinvestigation. Petition is dismissed," Nagaprasanna stated.

However, the complainant, RTI activist, said that he will continue his fight against the alleged corruption. He confirmed that he would approach the Supreme Court to transfer the case from Lokayukta police to the CBI. He reiterated that the allotment of sites by MUDA to Siddaramaiah’s wife B M Parvathi was done illegally.

The Lokayukta police in Karnataka are investigating the case after receiving directions from a special court in Bengaluru on September 25, 2024. The complaint suggested that the lands were converted from agriculture to non-agriculture in 2004, and Mallikarjuna Swamy gifted the lands to Siddaramaiah's wife in 2010. MUDA Commissioner D B Natesh allotted 14 sites to the chief minister's wife in 2021. However, Parvathi (Siddaramaiah's wife) returned all the plots to MUDA on October 3, 2024.

The chief minister stated that he was falsely framed into the case. He said that the opposition parties in Karnataka were trying to distract people as they could not defeat Congress. “This is a fight against the revenge politics of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government. Our judicial struggle against this revenge politics of BJP and JDS will continue. I have faith in the court," he asserted.
