After AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal's announcement on Thursday about the launch of the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana, promising to increase the assistance to Rs 2,100 if his party returns to power, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi revealed on Friday that the scheme, which aims to provide monthly assistance to women in the city, will be rolled out in the next 10-15 days. The government is currently working on finalising the registration process for the scheme.

The Delhi Cabinet approved the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana on Thursday, which will provide Rs 1,000 per month to every eligible woman above the age of 18. The scheme has an annual allocation of Rs 4,560 crore. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi confirmed that work is underway to initiate the registration process, with plans to begin it in the next 7-10 days.

"This was notified last evening. Now, work is underway to work on the registration process. We will make an effort to see that in the next 7-10 days, the registration process for Mahila Samman Yojana begins...," said Atishi.

Atishi Highlights Delhi’s Effort To Address Women’s Financial Struggles

Atishi stated that the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana is being initiated because the Delhi government understands the struggles of financially dependent women, who often have to ask for money from males, and aims to address this issue.

The Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana, with an annual budget of Rs 4,560 crore, aims to provide Rs 1,000 per month to approximately 38 lakh eligible women in Delhi. Eligibility includes women above 18 years of age, residents of Delhi, and holding a valid Voter ID as of December 12, 2024.

Delhi's CM stated that the disbursement of funds under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana will depend on the election dates, which are expected to be announced by the Election Commission in January. She hopes beneficiaries will receive at least one or two instalments before March 31, 2025.
