Mumbai Airport Private Plane Crash: A private flight from Visakhapatnam to Mumbai was involved in a runway excursion (veer off) while landing on runway 27 at Mumbai airport on Thursday evening. There were six passengers and two crew members on the flight.According to the news agency Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), all eight have been injured and have been hospitalised. Meanwhile, the rescue teams are on the spot and are carrying out the rescue operation.

 

“VSR Ventures Learjet 45 aircraft VT-DBL operating flight from Vizag to Mumbai was involved in runway excursion (veer off) while landing on runway 27 at Mumbai airport. There were 06 passengers and 02 crew member on board.Visibility was 700 metres with heavy rain”, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said in a statement.

The airport duty officer said that due to the heavy rain, aircraft skidded off the runway and crashed thereafter at the domestic airport. The runway has been temporarily closed due to the incident, forcing the diversion of flights.

However, hours later, the flight operations were resumed on runway 27 at Mumbai aiport where VSR Ventures Learjet 45 aircraft VT-DBL operating flight from Visakhapatnam to Mumbai was involved in runway excursion while landing, an official statement said on Thursday.

The Spokesperson of Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) said that services after a temporary closure of the runway.

The temporary closure of the runway led to multiple flights being diverted on Thursday after the runway 27 at Mumbai airport was temporary closed for operations.
