Bengaluru Namo Bharat: The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has put forward a proposal to establish four new rail corridors in Karnataka as part of its Namo Bharat initiative. This plan aims to boost regional connectivity and unlock economic opportunities for key satellite cities surrounding Bengaluru.

The proposed corridors include:

Bengaluru–Hoskote–Kolar (65 km)

Bengaluru–Mysuru (145 km)

Bengaluru–Tumakuru (60 km)

Bengaluru–Hosur–Krishnagiri–Dharmapuri (138 km, extending into Tamil Nadu)

According to a Money Control report, these corridors are designed to support Namo Bharat trains, which can reach speeds of up to 160 km/h. This would enable travel across 90 km in less than an hour. The first corridor of this system, connecting Delhi and Meerut, became partially operational in October 2023, with 55 km of the total 82 km already in use.

In a letter addressed to the Karnataka government, the NCRTC expressed its readiness to create Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the proposed corridors, as reported by Money Control report. The organisation also offered to meet with the Chief Secretary and other stakeholders in Bengaluru to discuss the proposal further.

The funding model suggested for these projects is similar to that used for the Delhi–Meerut RRTS, with 60 per cent of the costs to be covered by multilateral agencies, 20 per cent from the Government of India and the remaining 20 per cent from the Karnataka state government.

To provide Karnataka officials with a better understanding of the system, the NCRTC has invited them to visit the operational section between Sarai Kale Khan and Modipuram in the Delhi-NCR region.

The proposal highlights the RRTS model's global best practices, such as all-weather operations and advanced signalling systems, which are expected to significantly improve commuting options in Karnataka.
