Chaitra Navratri, commencing on March 30 in 2025, is one of the two major Navratris observed by Hindus. The nine-day festival is dedicated to Goddess Durga and her nine forms, culminating in Rama Navami, which marks the birth of Lord Ram.
In Uttar Pradesh, the Varanasi Municipal Corporation has also decided to shut down all meat shops in the city during Navratri. Municipal Commissioner Akshat Verma stated that the decision, approved by the executive board, will be enforced through awareness campaigns and regulatory measures.
