Ahead of the NEET-UG exam on May 4, fraudsters have been spreading fake news of a paper leak through social media platforms. Based on the complaints of the students, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has stepped up vigilance to deal with such cases. It has asked the Cyber Crime Coordination Centre of the Ministry of Home Affairs to identify the original sources of these rumours and provide information so that legal action can be taken against them.
NTA has also directed Instagram and Telegram to immediately remove posts spreading confusion among students.
According to NTA, cited by Jagran.com, about 1,500 complaints have been received so far on the portal activated for NEET-UG-related issues. Most of these complaints are related to Telegram and Instagram.
The complaints about paper leaks include 106 related to Telegram and 16 to Instagram. These were later widely circulated on other platforms as well. NTA is working to identify those responsible and has warned students to stay alert and not fall for such falsehoods.
After multiple irregularities during last year's NEET-UG exam, the NTA is being particularly vigilant this year. It is closely monitoring social media and has also asked students to immediately report any suspicious activity via the designated portal.
This year's NEET-UG exam will be conducted across approximately 5,500 centres in about 550 cities. Nearly 2.3 million students are expected to participate in this exam.
