NEET-UG 2024 Update: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday assured action on the National Testing Agency (NTA) officials if they are found guilty of the irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) (NEET-UG) 2024. The Minister further said that no official, however senior, will be spared if found complicit in the unscrupulous conduct, maligning the NEET-UG 2024 exam.
This came after the NTA told the Supreme Court that it had cancelled the results of 1,563 candidates who got "grace marks" in the NEET-UG exam. The candidates have been given a chance to reappear in the exam on June 23, while the new results will be declared on June 30, it said.
Speaking with ANI, the Union Minister said: "On the recommendations of the Supreme Court, the order has been given for a re-test of 1,563 candidates. Some irregularities have come to light in two places. I assure students and parents that the government has taken this seriously."

"Even if the big officials of the NTA are found guilty, they will not be spared. A lot of improvement is required in NTA. The government is concerned about this, no culprit will be spared, they will get the harshest punishment," he added.
This came amid the intensifying student protests on the issue of the irregularities and alleged exam leak of the NEET-UG 2024 paper. Many student unions across the country, including NSUI and Kerala Students Union have protested against the allegations and demanded NEET UG re-exam.
Amid the huge uproar on the NEET UG 2024 exam issue, former HRD Minister Kapil Sibal demanded a Supreme Court-monitored probe into the alleged paper leak.
The present National Testing Agency (NTA) has bungled and corruption has been brought to light on media platforms, such as providing solutions for question papers for something like becoming a doctor," Sibal said.
"Some of these incidents in Gujarat have perplexed me and are a matter of great national concern. I think NTA should answer some of these very serious questions," he added as quoted by PTI.
