Jagran correspondent, Lucknow | The electricity department has identified those villages in the capital city, Lucknow, where electricity had not yet reached. Now the target has been set to provide electricity to these villages by Diwali. Although it was claimed in the first phase of the Saubhagya Yojana that electricity had reached all the villages in Lucknow. Now, 582 families were found whose homes did not have electricity, and they were still living without power. Officials started working on electrification in these villages.
The officials from the electricity department started linking their homes to the electricity pole in front of the consumer's house. Under the Saubhagya Shree scheme, the consumers from six villages in Jankipuram and fifty villages and hamlets in the Amausi zone will get power supply.
Few Consumers Unable To Afford Expenditure
Some consumers are financially unable to pay the monthly electricity bill and the Rs 4,325 required for a connection. When such consumers refuse to take a connection, electricity workers are counselling them.
According to the electricity department officials, a consumer needs to apply for a connection through the Jhatpat Portal (https://jhatpatportal.uppcl.org/jhatpat/auth/home/login) and pay Rs 4,325 for a 1-kilowatt connection. Of this, Rs 1,925 must be deposited immediately. The remaining amount will be added to future bills.
Even this amount seems excessive to some consumers. Consumers living in Mal, Malihabad, BKT, Nigoha, Nagaram, Gosaiganj, and some villages and hamlets of Amethi said that once a connection is somehow obtained, they will have to arrange for a bill of three to four hundred rupees every month.
Meanwhile, the electrification agency claims that 63 consumers in six villages within the Jankipuram zone who were left out have received electricity connections. Electricity has also reached several homes in the Amausi zone, and the remaining consumers will soon be connected.
