- 500 terrorists at PoK launchpads ready for J&K infiltration.
- Pakistani Army providing special equipment for winter operations.
- Indian Army on high alert, enhancing border surveillance and security.
Jagran Correspondent, Srinagar | Indian intelligence agencies estimated that around 500 terrorists are currently present at launchpads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and may attempt to infiltrate Jammu and Kashmir during the winter. They have been divided into small groups of three to four members to avoid security forces' surveillance.
Pakistani Army Provided Terrorists Equipment To Survive In Snowy Weather
According to intelligence officials, terrorists belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen have been provided special equipment used in snowy and high-altitude areas by the Pakistani Army. They were waiting for the spell of snowfall. Once snow covers the mountain, they may attempt to infiltrate under the cover of snowfall.
Pakistani soldiers are deployed around the launchpads. They are using drones to monitor the activities of the Indian Army and possible infiltration routes.
Diversion Tactics
The preparation for infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir is seen as an attempt to divert attention from Pakistan's internal challenges amid ongoing unrest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PoK, and Balochistan.
On the other side, the Indian Army is on high alert following intelligence inputs about cross-border activities. Surveillance has been increased, and security has been tightened to prevent infiltration.
J&K DGP Calls For Tighter Security In Border Areas
Earlier on October 13, Jammu and Kashmir's top cop called for enhanced security in border areas, along with strengthening engagement with local communities, to prevent infiltration and other security threats.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police DGP, Nalin Prabhat, in an Operations review meeting, stressed sharing of timely information and coordinated efforts to overcome various security challenges. Senior officers from various wings of police briefed the DGP on the operational preparedness and key security-related developments in the UT of J&K.
Prabhat emphasised the need to strengthen intelligence-based operations and maintain heightened vigilance. Stressing the importance of inter-agency coordination, the DGP called for seamless information sharing among District Police, intelligence agencies, and other security forces to ensure effective operational outcomes.
