Utsav Ground Dussehra Event: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend the Dussehra celebrations at Utsav Ground in IP Extension, East Delhi, on Tuesday evening and take part in the Ravana Dahan ceremony. Ahead of his visit, police have put a three-layer security cordon and traffic restrictions in place around the venue, according to two officers familiar with the arrangements, reported HT.
Around 2,500 personnel from the Delhi Police and central armed paramilitary forces will be on duty for security and traffic control. The deployment includes commandos from the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of the Delhi Police Special Cell.
According to HT, a police officer said the heavy arrangements were put in place because of possible security threats and the chance of protests or disruptions either along the Prime Minister’s route or at the venue itself.
Three-Layer Security Arrangements
The innermost layer will be handled by the Special Protection Group (SPG), which provides close protection to the Prime Minister. The middle layer will be manned by personnel from the Prime Minister’s security wing of the Delhi Police, including commandos, while local police will look after the outermost ring.
Nearly 10,000 people are expected to attend the Ravana Dahan ceremony.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Rajeev Kumar said full security and traffic arrangements had been made for the Dussehra celebrations at the IP Extension ground and other venues in his area. He added that drones were being used for aerial surveillance along with the ground deployment of security personnel.

Every entry gate at the venue will have door-frame metal detectors, handheld metal detectors and baggage scanners. Sniffer dogs and quick response teams will be on duty, and ambulances and patrol vehicles will stay on standby.
Traffic Restrictions From 5 PM to 8 PM
There will be around 300 personnel from the Delhi Traffic Police to manage traffic on the routes and around the venue. A contingency route plan has also been prepared in case of any unexpected situation.

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory listing the diversions without directly mentioning the Prime Minister’s expected visit. Commuters have been asked to avoid the affected roads during the restricted hours and take alternative routes.
