The Delhi Police have registered an FIR against Meta India over the presence of Child Sexual Exploitative and Abuse Material (CSEAM) on its platforms on the directions of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
NHRC member Priyank Kanoongo took to X and said, "Acting on our directions, Delhi Police has registered an FIR regarding the availability of Child Sexual Exploitative and Abuse Material (CSEAM) on platforms operated by Meta India."
This marks the first-ever FIR against the tech giant in a CSEAM content case. The issue of CSEAM has become a major concern and has been raised by the Indian government. In August this year, company CEO Mark Zuckerberg had apologised for the presence of such content on the platforms.
