Mumbai Metro Update: In a major update for the commuters, the services on Metro Lines 2A, 7 and Line 9 Phase 1 of Mumbai Metro will begin at 6.30 am till September 25. In a post on X, Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) informed that the changes have been made to conduct the integration tests. The signaling and integration tests will link the three new stations to the metro network.
Authority Plans Integration Tests
In its post, the authority stated that the special block has been planned till September 25 to ensure smooth operation. "Passenger services on Metro Lines 2A, 7 and Line 9 Phase 1 will begin at 6:30 AM," the MMMOCL said in its post. The commuters have been advised to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconveniences.

"This temporary change is due to a special block necessary to provide technical teams with an uninterrupted morning block for essential signalling software migration, testing and validation as three additional stations of Metro Line 9 Phase 2 are integrated with the operational Metro network," it added.

Crucial Tests To Be Conducted
The testing has been scheduled in the early morning hours as it requires controlled period when the trains do not carry the passengers. This is considered a crucial stage before metro line 9 phase 2 can entre passenger service. The integration project can proceed towards security checks upon completion of the integration and speed tests, the authority confirmed.
Earlier, the Maharashtra Cabinet approved a Rs 5,575-crore expansion of the Navi Mumbai Metro network. The project includes Metro Line 1A, connecting Sagar Sangam and CBD Belapur, and Metro Line 2, which will link Pendhar with the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).
Once completed, the expansion will add 13 new stations and create a continuous 28-km metro corridor, providing direct connectivity from Sagar Sangam to the eastern entrance of the Navi Mumbai International Airport.
