Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated that hydrogen is the future of the transport industry, noting that the government is already taking active steps toward its adoption. The government is currently conducting trials on 10 key routes across the country on its use as fuel.
Speaking at the 'Prawaas 5.0' event in Gandhinagar on Thursday, Gadkari said that trials are already underway across 10 key routes, including Greater Noida-Delhi-Agra, Bhubaneshwar-Konark-Puri, Ahmedabad-Vadodara-Surat, Sahibabad-Faridabad-Delhi, Pune-Mumbai, Jamshedpur-Kalinga Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram-Kochi, Kochi-Edappally, Jamnagar-Ahmedabad, and NH-16 Visakhapatnam-Bayyavaram.

'India Will Lead Globally': Gadkari
The Union Minister stated that the government is actively conducting a pilot project on ten routes to test hydrogen fuel. "I am sure the future of the transportation industry is hydrogen, and hydrogen is the fuel of the future, and we are working on that," he said.
Gadkari further stated that the industry is working very well in the area of alternative fuel and biofuel, and India will lead globally in terms of its technology and cost.
"The initiatives taken by the automobile industry in developing buses are very important, and manufacturers and transporters should think about having good, comfortable transport from a technological point of view with world-standard technology. The duty of our manufacturers is to give more comfort with reasonable economic value," Gadkari said.

A Look At India's First Hydrogen Train
The wait for India's first Hydrogen train is set to end in 10 days, as the service will start on July 17 in Haryana, as part of the Centre's 'Green Transportation Mission' and 'Make in India' initiative.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will personally inaugurate the train. The design of the train was developed by the "Designs and Standards Organisation" and is built at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai.
