Nitish Kumar's Party Leader Shot Dead In Patna By Unidentified Bike-Borne Men

A Janata Dal United (JDU) worker was shot dead on Wednesday night by unidentified bike-borne men in Bihar's Patna district. Saurabh Kumar, a youth worker of the Nitish Kumar party, was returning from a function when the shooting occured in the district's Punpun area. Another person accompanying the JDU worker, identified as Munmun Kumar was also injured in the firing.

According to the police, Saurabh Kumar came with his friends to attend a reception function, while he was returning he shot by unidentified miscreants. Kumar was rushed to Kankarbagh Uma hospital but had already succumbed to the gunshot wounds.

"Saurabh Kumar came with his friends to attend a reception function. While returning he was shot by unidentified assailants who were on a motorcycle. Then he was taken to hospital and one other person named Munmun Kumar also sustained injuries. They were taken to Kankarbagh Uma hospital, however, by then Saurabh Kumar died. We are examining the matter," SDPO Masaurhi, Kanhaiya Singh said.

Singh said that a search for the unidentified assailants is underway.
