The RSS on Friday sought to put an end to the reports of its rift with the ruling BJP, saying that such speculations are meant to create confusion among the people. This came days after the RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat made critical references to the ruling party's Lok Sabha campaign and the handling of the Manipur violence.

According to the PTI, the RSS's three-day annual coordination meeting with its sister organisations such as BJP and VHP is scheduled to take place in Kerala's Palakkad. According to PTI, senior BJP leaders, including the party president, are expected to join the gathering.

"There is no rift between the RSS and the BJP," the RSS sources said as quoted by the PTI. This came amid the charges by several people, including the opposition leaders, that Bhagwat's remarks, including that "a true sevak is never arrogant," were a message to the BJP leadership following its below-expectations performance in the polls.

"There was not much difference in his (Bhagwat's) speech from what he had given after the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Any address is bound to make a reference to an event as important as national elections. However, it was misinterpreted and taken out of context to create confusion. His 'arrogance' remark was never directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi or any BJP leader," the sources said.

In his address at a meeting, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat expressed concern over the situation in Manipur, asking when peace will return to the state. He had also criticized the discourse during the polls.

After Bhagwat's speech, the opposition had taken digs at PM Modi and BJP.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh had said, "If not the 'one-third' Prime Minister's conscience or the repeated demands of the people of Manipur, perhaps Mr. Bhagwat can prevail upon the former RSS office-bearer to go to Manipur."
