Noida Faridabad Yamuna Bridge: The Haryana government has approved the construction of a 550-meter-long Yamuna bridge that will directly link Noida Sector 168 to Faridabad’s Lalitpur village. The bridge is a part of 56-kilometre-long Faridabad Noida Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway. The project was announced nearly 30 years ago. The construction is likely to be completed by 2027 at an estimated cost of Rs 460 crore.
According to an estimate, about one lakh people use the Noida Expressway daily. This route is frequently jammed, adding almost 32 km to the travel distance. Providing a huge relief to daily commuters, the new project is expected to reduce the travel time between Noida and Faridabad from more than an hour to just 30 minutes.
Haryana And UP To Bear The Cost
Last year, when the NCR planning board had suggested that Uttar Pradesh and Haryana should bear the cost of construction equally, Noida had agreed over the suggestion; however, Haryana had not acquired the required land, causing further delays.

Recently, Haryana’s Minister for Urban Local Bodies and Civil Aviation, Vipul Goel, announced that the state government has now agreed to contribute 50% of the total cost. This decision has resolved a long-standing funding issue and paved the way for the project to move forward.
The FNG Expressway was announced in 1998 with a total cost of Rs 1,000 crore. Multiple factors like funding issues, land acquisition challenges, and a lack of coordination between the Haryana and UP governments had contributed to the delay of the project. A major point of disagreement between the two states was the funding of the Yamuna Bridge. Both sides were reluctant to take on the financial responsibility. However, in 2023, the project gained momentum when former Ghaziabad MP VK Singh urged the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to step in and take over the incomplete sections.
Current Status Of FNG Expressway
The FNG Expressway, which stretches from Chhajarsi along National Highway 9 in Ghaziabad to NH2 in Faridabad via Noida, is still under construction. Different sections of the expressway are progressing at varying speeds.

So far, the Noida Authority has completed 11.6 km out of the total 23 km of the expressway that passes through Noida. The remaining 12.1 km is estimated to cost ₹1,314 crore and includes several key pending sections:
A 650-meter elevated road in Chhajarsi, estimated at ₹61 crore.
A one-lane stretch near Sorkha village.
A 200-meter section in Shahadra near Sector 143 was delayed due to land disputes.
An elevated road over the Hindon is awaiting approval from the irrigation department.
An underpass at the intersection of the FNG and Noida Expressway remains incomplete.
