Punjab Police on Tuesday said it busted a major Pakistan's ISI-backed cross-border terror network active in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. The police also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition. They claimed that the terror network was working to activate sleeper cells.

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav released a statement on X, saying "in a major breakthrough against ISI-backed cross-border terror networks, SSOC Amritsar, in a joint operation with central agency recovers a cache of terrorist hardware in an intelligence-led operation in the forested area near Tibba Nangal–Kular Road, SBS Nagar."

2 Rocket-Propelled Grenades (RPGs)
2 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)
5 P-86 Hand Grenades
1 Wireless Communication Set

Attempt To Revive Sleeper Cells: Police

Preliminary probe indicates a coordinated operation by Pakistan’s ISI and allied terror outfits to revive sleeper cells in Punjab.

An FIR under relevant provisions of law has been registered at the police station, State Special Operation Cell (#SSOC), Amritsar.

Punjab Police remains committed to safeguarding national security and dismantling terror infrastructure in the state, the statement read.

Two Spies Arrested In Amritsar

Earlier, in a significant counter-espionage operation, Amritsar Rural Police on Sunday apprehaended two people for their alleged role in leaking sensitive information and photographs of Army cantonment areas and air bases in Amritsar. The arrested duo were identified as Falaksher Masih and Suraj Masih, both residents of Balarhwal in Ajnala.

They were transmitting sensitive intelligence to Pakistan's intelligence agency. Preliminary investigation revealed their links to Pakistani intelligence operatives, established through Harpreet Singh, alias Pittu, alias Happy, currently lodged in Amritsar Central Jail.
