Parliament Security Breach: The six accused arrested in connection with the Parliament security breach case were "self-funded and self-motivated" to do "something big" for fame, Delhi Police said on Tuesday. The accused were also under the impression that they would be let off even if arrested as they believed they were not committing any "serious crime", officials cited by news agency PTI informed.

According to a senior officer of Delhi Police Special Cell cited by PTI, Manoranjan D, who is one of the accused, is suspected to be the mastermind behind the conspiracy that led to the security breach on the premises of the Parliament last month, on December 13.

Manoranjan is one of the two men, the other being Sagar Sharma, who were caught on camera jumping down from the visitor gallery of Lok Sabha carrying gas canisters that released coloured smoke inside the lower House while two others committed a similar act around the same time outside the new parliament building.

Manoranjan had created a page, named 'Bhagat Singh Fan Club', on social media platform Facebook with the aim of convincing "like-minded" individuals to do "something big" for fame, the senior Special Cell officer said. "The accused were known to each other for the last four years but the plan to breach parliament was hatched a year ago," the officer stated.

However, not every member of the page was in agreement with the idea of doing anything illegal. As a result, several members left the Facebook page in the days leading to the December 13 incident, police said.

"Since Manoranjan had access to the BJP MP in Mysore, he decided to barge into parliament and replicate freedom fighter Bhagat Singh's act which was done in the Delhi Assembly during British rule," another officer said.

Earlier this month, all the accused in the case, except Neelam Azad, underwent polygraph tests in Gujarat's Ahmedabad. Additionally, Sagar and Manoranjan, were made to undergo narco-analysis and brain mapping tests. Following their arrests, the accused had claimed that they were upset over issues like unemployment, the violence in Manipur, and farmers' agitation.
