Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been adjourned for today LS members will meet tomorrow at 1:15 pm in the new Parliament building while RS members will meet at 2:15 pm.

During the Special Session of Parliament in Lok Sabha Union Minister Piyush Goyal said "Today is our last day in this Parliament, I hope we can raise the dignity of our Parliamentary discussions & put out a unified message today."

Amid the ongoing special session of Parliament, a key Union Cabinet meeting is likely to take place at 6:30pm on Monday, news agency ANI reported citing sources.

BJP leader and MP Dinesh Sharma who took oath as a Member of the Parliament (MP) in Rajya Sabha earlier today said, "This is an opportunity for me. I am also leaving old responsibilities to enter into the new. And now we are leaving the old Parliament building to enter the new Parliament tomorrow...And it is also a coincidence that I alone took the oath today and it is the last day of this (old) Parliament...I will say that today is also historic and tomorrow will also be a historic day..."

AAP MP Sushil Gupta on Monday said that Prime MInister doesn't spoke on important issues during the Parliament Special Session adding that what matters is how much we(elected representatives) stood on the hopes of the people of the country.

"Today the country had hopes that the Parliament completed 75 years and this subject had been decided to be discussed in both Houses. The people of the country wanted that after 75 years, the discussion should be on topics like how much advancements had been achieved in education, how many medical institutes had been constructed, do all the homes in the country have drinking water, electricity available," he said.

"The PM spoke on none of these topics. Parliament's journey and what happened in the Parliament doesn't matter. What matters is how much we(elected representatives) stood on the hopes of the people of the country," he further added.,

As the proceedings of the parliament will be shifted to the new building tomorrow, PM Modi hailed the hard work and the money that went into the construction of the old building.

"...All of us are saying goodbye to this historic building. Before independence, this House was the place for the Imperial Legislative Council," he said.

"After independence, this gained the identity of Parliament House. It is true that the decision to construct this building was taken by foreign rulers but we can never forget and can proudly say that the toil, the hard work and the money that went into the construction was that of my countrymen," he further added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Special Session of Parliament will be a historic movement for the country and this session will pave the way to make India a developed country by 2047. “This session of the Parliament is short but going by the time, it is huge. This is a session of historic decisions. A speciality of this session is that the journey of 75 years is starting from a new destination. Now, while taking forward the journey from a new place...we have to make the country a developed country by 2047. For this, all the decisions of the time to come will be taken in the new Parliament building."

The Women's Reservation Bill seeks to reserve 33 per cent of seats in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies for women. Despite being a crucial step towards gender parity and inclusive governance, the Bill has remained in legislative limbo for far too long.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media before the start of the five-day-long special session of Parliament on Monday. Speaking to the media, PM Modi praised the achievement of ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 moon mission and stated that Shiv Shakti Point on the moon's surface has become a new centre of inspiration. “Tiranga Point is filling us with pride. Across the world, when such an achievement is made, it is viewed by linking it to modernity, science and technology. When this capability comes before the world, several opportunities and possibilities knock at the doors of India," PM Modi said.,

Ahead of the Special Session of Parliament set to commence today, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, "I have been saying this from the beginning that this is quite absurd. Why the government decided to pass so many bills in this Special Session, needs to be clarified by them."

"Special Sessions are usually called for a special agenda and discussions are held only on that issue, but no clarity has been given by the Govt if this is a special session or a regular session... We are worried about the real intention of the govt. We do not have any problem with PM Modi speaking in the Parliament. I have raised all the 9 points in the all-party meeting yesterday that were put up by our party," he added.

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari following the all-party meeting on Sunday said that the government is so confused adding that it was an agenda by confused government.

He said, "Government is so confused. It was an agenda by a confused government. When the meeting started then total of four points were printed, by the end of the meeting, there were eight points. Then we asked where is the agenda?"

"They said they are sending it to us. This means that the government has called the session but they don't know, at least the ministers have no idea what will happen? Maybe the PM comes up with a mysterious thing, this should be left to him...Overall, there was not a single topic in front of us that could not have been discussed in the previous session or could not be held in the upcoming winter session in one month," he added.,

The Aam Aadmi Party has issued a three-line whip, asking its Rajya Sabha MPs to remain present in the Parliament throughout the Special Session.

"All members of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Rajya Sabha are hereby, informed that some very important issues will be taken up in the Rajya Sabha in the upcoming special session. In view of this, all members of the Aam Aadmi Party are requested to be positively present in the house from 11 AM onwards until the adjournment of the House from 18th September to 22nd September 2023 and support the stand of the party," the party's chief whip Sushil Kumar Gupta said in a notice.,

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Monday said that the Opposition's request for clarification (of agenda) has been made clear in the all-party meeting yesterday.

"We have already announced our agenda... I request them to attend the Parliament's journey of 75 years that will be discussed today as PM Modi has taken the oath to make India a developed country before 2047," he said.,

Speaking on the all-party meeting held on the eve of Day 1 of Special Session of Parliament, Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Monday said, "Till now it is all just in the air. They have just listed 8 bills in the agenda and in the All Party Meeting yesterday also they talked about these 8 subjects only."
