Parliament Monsoon Session Updates: Prime Minister will address the Lok Sabha on Thursday, Day-3 of the no-confidence discussion, confirmed Rajnath Singh on Wednesday in the parliament. While the debate on the no-confidence motion continued for the second day today.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi initiated the discussion on Tuesday and launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP on the Manipur situation. He said, “They murdered India in Manipur” and were “traitors not patriots”. Referring to BJP which is in power both at the Centre and in Manipur, he said, “You killed Bharat Mata in Manipur”.

"Bharat ek awaaz hai, Bharat hamari janta ki awaaz hai, dil ki awaaz hai. Uss awaaz ki hatya aapne Manipur mein ki. Iska matlab Bharat Mata ki hatya aapne Manipur mein ki...You killed India by killing the people of Manipur. You are a traitor, you are not a patriot," Rahul Gandhi said.

"They killed India in Manipur. Not just Manipur but they killed India. Their politics has not killed Manipur, but it has killed India in Manipur. They have murdered India in Manipur," he added.

Rahul Gandhi said the Prime Minister has not visited the northeastern state since it witnessed violence. “A few days back, I went to Manipur. Our PM didn't go, not even to this day, because for him Manipur is not India,” Gandhi alleged.

BJP members strongly objected to Rahul Gandhi’s accusations and his using “Bharat Mata” for his allegations in relation to the Manipur situation. Union Minister Smriti Irani hit back at Rahul Gandhi's statement and said "You are not India, for India is not corrupt."

"You are not India because you define corruption and dynastic politics, retorts. India believes in merit not in dynasty and today of all the days people like you need to remember what was told to the British - Quit India. Corruption Quit India, and Dynasty Quit India. Merit now finds place in India," the BJP leader said.

Irani fired back to say "Bharat maa ki hatya ki baat karne wale kabhi bhi mez nahi thapthapate. Congressiyo ne baith kar maa ki hatya ke liye mez thapthapaai hai... (Entire country has seen Congress leaders clapping and thumping desks when Rahul Gandhi spoke of the death of mother India).”

She even accused Congress MP Rahul Gandhi of blowing a "flying kiss" while leaving parliament after his speech during the No-Confidence Motion debate in Lok Sabha. “Only a misogynist man can blow a flying kiss to parliament that seats women MPs," Smriti Irani said. The accusation triggered a row in the lower house and several NDA women MPs lodged a complaint against him in the LS for Rahul Gandhi’s alleged ‘flying kiss’.

Meanwhile, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke on the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha today and took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi and the Opposition. He hailed PM Modi for his work in the country and said that the motion moved by the Opposition India bloc is ‘Politically Motivated’.

He spoke on the Manipur issue and slammed the Opposition for not having a discussion over this “sensitive” issue. Amit Shah said that this no-confidence motion will show the real character of the Opposition in the country.

He claimed it is only PM Modi's led-government which has won the trust of most people in the country and added that PM Modi is the most popular leader who works tirelessly for the welfare of the people.

He asserted that he has been working hard on bringing peace in Manipur and has been monitoring the situation closely since violence broke out in early May, in response to Opposition accusations.

The Home Minister recalled how Prime Minister Narendra Modi dialled him at 4 am and 6.30 am on two consecutive days when reports of violence in Manipur came.

"I want to tell the whole country, the Prime Minister called me at 4 in the night and also at 6.30 the next morning. And they (opposition) are saying Modi ji doesn't bother at all," Amit Shah said. He urged them not to politicise the issue of ethnic violence in the state.

In his nearly two-hour intervention, Shah ruled out a change of guard in Manipur asserting that the chief minister was cooperating with the Centre in the efforts to restore peace.
