Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday offered his prayers and performed pooja at the holy Adi-Kailash temple in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh. On his one-day visit to the Himalayan state, he is set to inaugurate development projects worth Rs 4000 crore.
Prime Minister also visited Gunji village, a crucial base camp for the Adi Kailash summit, where he interacted with members of the armed forces, locals, and officials from Indo-Tibbet Border Police and Border Road Organisation. Accompanied by Chief Minister of the state Pushkar Singh Dhami, the PM also visited an exhibition highlighting local arts and artefacts.

While sharing pictures of his visit on social media platform X, he wrote, "I am overwhelmed with the darshan and worship at the holy Parvati Kund of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. The mind is also happy with the darshan of Adi Kailash from here. From this place of spirituality and culture nestled in the lap of nature, he wished a happy life for all the family members of his country."
During his visit to Goonji PM Modi also tried his hands at a traditional musical instrument of Uttarakhand, where he was seen using sticks to play a drum-like instrument.

Prime Minister is slated to visit Jageshwar Dham located in the Almora district later in the day. He will inaugurate various development projects worth Rs 4200 Crore related to rural development, road, electricity, irrigation, drinking water, horticulture and education. Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Dhami on Wednesday took to social media to welcome the leader to his state.
“Respected Prime Minister, on behalf of all the people of the state, I welcome and congratulate you on your arrival in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. Under your able leadership and guidance, religious, spiritual and adventure tourism is getting a new dimension through the construction of roads, rail and ropeway in the state. As per your vision, our government is continuously working for the all-round and comprehensive development of the state. Heartfelt thanks to you for your special attachment towards Uttarakhand!,” he wrote on X.
Prime Minister's visit to the border regions neighbouring China is also being considered strategically important.
