Pooja Khedkar News: In a sign of mounting troubles for Pooja Khedkar and her family, the controversial trainee IAS officer's father, a former bureaucrat, is now under the scanner for allegedly amassing wealth beyond his means, news agency ANI reported on Wednesday.
According to officials, the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Pune police has initiated a probe against Dilip Khedkar, a candidate in the recently held Lok Sabha election, on the basis of a complaint that was lodged against him months ago.
Pooja Khedkar IAS Controversy Catalysed Action
After the controversy surrounding Pooja, who faces allegations of misusing power and misrepresenting herself as an OBC non-creamy layer and visually impaired candidate to clear the civil services exam, came to the fore, the complainant once again approached the ACB recently, ANI said in its report.
"There was a complaint against Dilip Khedkar with ACB a few months ago. We have drafted a detailed report of our investigation and complaint. It has been sent to the HQ for further action. The name of the complainant cannot be disclosed as it is confidential," Pune ACB SP Atul Tambe was quoted as saying by ANI.
This comes as Dilip and his wife, Manorama Khedkar, remain absconding since being booked in an Arms Act case. Earlier, Pune-based RTI activist Vijay Kumbhar had raised questions about Pooja's appointment, alleging that she did not fall under the 'OBC non-creamy layer' category as her father had assets worth Rs 40 crore.
"Her (Pooja's) father, Dilip Khedkar, in his Lok Sabha polls affidavit showed a conservative estimated wealth of Rs 40 crores and an annual income of Rs 49 lakh. The information is in the public domain. Based on the election affidavit filed by her father in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the total assets of Khedkar's father amount to Rs. 40 crore," Kumbhar has claimed.
