A total of 951 students from different Schools of the Rayat Bahra University were conferred graduate, postgraduate and doctorate degrees at the 9th annual convocation of the University at its campus in Ludhiana on December 4. Delivering his convocation address chief guest Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, emphasised the transformative role of teachers in nation-building and urged collective action to safeguard the youth from the growing threat of drug abuse.
A teacher does not merely deliver lessons, the Governor remarked, adding that they shape values, inspire dreams, and ignite young minds to envision a better tomorrow.
Highlighting the evolving challenges faced by students, the Governor reiterated that teachers today must serve not only as academic guides but also as mentors capable of recognising emotional and behavioural shifts in children.
The Governor stated that teachers are the architects of a nation’s destiny, stressing that no society can progress unless its educators are empowered and respected.

“The efforts of institutions like RayatBahra University are truly commendable,” the Governor said. By awarding scholarships, offering freeships, and promoting inclusive learning, they are not only strengthening the academic ecosystem but also ensuring that no deserving student is left behind due to financial constraints. He urged the University Management to make efforts to nurture the inner potential of youth from border areas as well by establishing such quality institutes there too.
Chancellor of the RayatBahra University and Chairman of the RayatBahra Group of Institutions, Gurvinder Singh Bahra, speaking on the occasion, congratulated the graduates and postgraduates and wished them success in life. He exhorted the students to use their knowledge and skills for the service and betterment of society with dedication and determination. He expressed felicitations and extended his best wishes to all the students.
Avinash Rai Khanna, former MP, speaking as the guest of honour, highlighted the importance of hard work and unstinted dedication. He expressed confidence that RayatBahra University had made the outgoing students capable of facing the competitive and demanding world outside.
Commander Navneet Bali, Executive Director and CEO, Morgan Stanley, USA, and Hari Singh Bhambra, Managing Director of Preet Tractors Private Ltd, were other guests of honour. Gurinder Singh Bahra, Vice-Chairman RayatBahra Group, Prof (Dr.) Sanjay kumar, group vice chancellor and pro vice chancellor, Prof. (Dr) SK Bansal was also present on the occasion. At the convocation, degrees were awarded to 23 PhD, 400 postgraduate and 510 undergraduate students. Besides this, 18 Gold Medals were also awarded.
Abhinav Ashish Tripathy, controller of examination, said that among those who received their degrees were students of the School of Law, School of Management Studies, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Engineering and Technology, and School of Social Sciences. School Of Education, School of hotel management, Allied health sciences, PhD.
