The Punjab police on Wednesday foiled a major terror attack plot by arresting four operatives of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang after an exchange of fire. While providing details, the police stated that they were planning a major operation in the three key cities—Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula. The authorities further stated that the joint operation was conducted after receiving input, adding that two police personnel also got injured in the process. The police also stated that weapons have been seized from them, adding that a probe has been launched for more details. Apart from this, the officials also revealed that the accused were receiving instructions from the foreign handlers, adding that their criminal records will also be investigated. 

"Today's police operation took place here. We, the AGTF (Anti-Gangster Task Force) teams and the Mohali district teams, received input that some criminals linked to Lawrence Bishnoi were planning to commit a crime in this area. After coordinating and planning the operation with our ADGP, AGTF, SSP Mohali, and officers, we cordoned off the area and took appropriate action... Upon checking, we found four members. Two of them were injured. They also attempted to kill two of our officers.: HC Gagan, and Constable Gulab," DSP Bikramjeet Singh Brar was quoted as saying by ANI.

However, he assured that both the officials were out of danger and are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. "Both survived the incident. One was hit in the leg, while the other was shot in the back. The one injured in the back has been transported to the hospital and is receiving urgent treatment... Seven weapons and 70 cartridges have been recovered from the individuals in custody," Brar stated.

"The foreign handlers were giving them instructions. According to their directions, they were supposed to target someone within the Tri City and Patiala districts. We are actively working on it... They are from the Patiala district... Their criminal records and other details will be investigated," he added.

The action was taken days after the Jammu and Kashmir police busted the 'white collar' module, which was reportedly planning to execute a major operation.
