Six associates of Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda, who were plotting 'sensational crimes' in Punjab, were arrested, officials said on Thursday.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated in a post on X that the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and the Mohali police were credited for the arrests.

According to police, the arrested individuals also had weapons and ammunition.

DGP Yadav said, "In a major breakthrough, #AGTF-Punjab & @sasnagarpolice, have arrested six associates of ISI-backed, Pak-based terrorist Harwinder Singh @ Rinda."

He also added, "One of the arrested persons was involved in a double murder case at Patiala in April '23 and has been absconding ever since. Preliminary investigation reveals that arrested accused were planning to commit sensational crimes in the state. Seizure of 5 Pistols & 20 live cartridges (was also done)."

Earlier in June, Tarn Taran Police detained two accomplices of gangster-turned-terrorist Harwinder Singh alias Rinda, during a crackdown on the gangster-terrorist nexus undertaken by Punjab Police.

The arrested individuals were identified as Arshdeep Singh and his brother Wattandeep Singh, both inhabitants of the village Kulla.
