Rahul, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, is set to get a new residence with the House Committee offering him Bungalow No. 5, Sunehri Bagh Road, reports news agency PTI, quoting sources. The buzz around the residence picked up after his sister, Priyanka Gandhi, visited Bungalow No. 5, Sunehri Bagh Road. According to the parliamentary sources, Gandhi has been offered the bungalow, and a response from him is awaited.

Rahul has had his official residence at 12 Tughlaq Lane ever since he became an MP. However, he had to later vacate that house following his disqualification from the Lok Sabha due to a conviction in a defamation case. The senior Congress leader, Gandhi, then moved into the 10, Janpath residence of his mother, Sonia Gandhi, and has been living there even after his disqualification was revoked.

With Gandhi becoming the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, he is entitled to a Type 8 bungalow as he holds the rank of Cabinet minister.

Rahul Gandhi contested the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from Wayanad and Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli parliamentary constituency. He won from both seats. However, he can only represent one constituency in the Lok Sabha, so, he had to vacate one of the seats. Rahul vacated the Wayanad parliamentary constituency and chose to represent Rae Bareli of Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, a election is to be held in Wayanad to choose the candidate. The Congress Party has announced Priyanka Gandhi, sister of former Lok Sabha MP from Wayanad, as its candidate for the polls.
