Rain, Storms Bring Relief From Scorching Heat: IMD Issues Alert For Delhi-NCR, UP, And Bihar, Temperatures Set To Drop

Weather Update: North India is bracing for a significant shift in weather patterns as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a 'break' from the current heatwave conditions. According to the weather office, temperatures are likely to drop by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius, offering much-needed relief from the blistering heat.

However, the IMD has placed several regions, including the national capital, under an alert, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 50-60 km/h beginning Thursday. Residents have been advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather forecasts.

Rain Alert In THESE States

According to the weather office, an active western disturbance is expected to bring light rain, lightning, and hailstorms, along with dust storms with wind speeds of 50 to 60 km/h across North and East India.

- Under the influence of the active western disturbance, several states, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Bihar, are likely to experience dust storms at speeds of 50-60 km/h along with light, lightning and hailstorms.

- The higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand are expected to see thunder, rain and snowfall.

What's In Forecast For West Bengal, Jharkhand And Other States?

- A cyclonic circulation over South India is expected to trigger heavy rain and thunderstorms across five states, including West Bengal, till April 30.

- This weather pattern is likely to bring heavy, significant rainfall to Rayalaseema, parts of Maharashtra, and the Western Ghats.

- Meanwhile, Northeast India, West Bengal and Jharkhand are forecasted to see thunderstorms, strong winds, and rain. However, the IMD has warned that heatwave conditions may persist in some areas.

UP Weather Forecast

After days of intense heat across Uttar Pradesh, a sudden weather shift on Wednesday brought widespread rain and storms, offering significant relief to the residents.

In response, the Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for about 50 districts, including Banda, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Ballia, Gorakhpur, Gonda, Bahraich, Sitapur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Ayodhya, Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Hathras, Bulandshahr, Bijnor, Moradabad, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur and Badaun.

The weather office has warned of strong dust storms, rain, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms in several parts of the state.
