In a disturbing instance of social media obsession gone too far, a couple in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur allegedly risked the life of their seven-year-old daughter by making her pose dangerously on the edge of a dam, all to shoot a reel. The video, which has gone viral, shows the minor perched precariously beyond the safety railing at Baretha Dam, drawing sharp criticism from viewers across platforms.
As per a report by Bhaskar, the child was made to sit on a gauge box that extended past the protective barriers of the dam, with only an angle iron to support her. In the viral clip, the father can be seen positioning the girl while the mother stands nearby, both seemingly encouraging the risky stunt. After positioning her, the father even lets go of her hands leaving her visibly uneasy and unsteady.

Shockingly, the mother is also seen cheering her on, despite the apparent danger. The girl, looking nervous and unsure, follows their instructions and is lowered onto the other side of the railing.
The video was uploaded on Sunday from an Instagram account named Umashankar.
Netizens Furious Over Parental Negligence
The footage triggered outrage among netizens who slammed the couple for their recklessness. Many have labelled the act as outright endangerment, calling for action against the parents for putting their child at such grave risk.
Baraith Police Station In-charge Bharat Lal confirmed to the media outlet that the video had come to their attention. However, the identities of the couple remain unknown.

“Efforts are being made to identify them. For security purposes, a constable has been deployed at the spot," said Bharat Lal.
The Baretha Dam, a popular spot among tourists and Instagram content creators, has recently seen a rise in such dangerous antics. Authorities are growing increasingly concerned about the trend, warning that these stunts not only threaten individual lives but also endanger rescue teams who may have to intervene in emergencies.
