Rajasthan Police on Friday detained a government employee, Shakur Khan, in Jaisalmer on allegations of espionage. According to Jaisalmer Superintendent of Police Sudhir Chaudhary, Khan is currently under interrogation in connection with the case.
Speaking to ANI, SP Chaudhary confirmed, “We have detained government employee Shakur Khan, and questioning is underway to gather further details.”
Earlier, the police had appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity or individuals. As part of this effort, several people have already been detained, with action being taken against those suspected of passing sensitive information across the border.
“We had asked the public to inform us about any suspicious individuals. Multiple people have been questioned so far, and strict action has been taken against those found involved in sharing classified information beyond the border,” SP Chaudhary added.

Efforts to crack down on espionage activities across the country are ongoing. The Delhi Police Special Cell has begun questioning a Pakistani spy recently arrested in Deeg, Rajasthan. Initial interrogation suggests that the accused, Kasim, had returned to India just a week before the Pahalgam attack.
Police sources indicate that Kasim allegedly received Rs 2 lakh from Pakistan in multiple instalments in exchange for confidential information. During questioning, he claimed to have erased all data from his phone after news of other spies getting caught post the Pahalgam incident surfaced. However, the authorities plan to conduct a forensic examination of his phone to verify this.
Investigators are also working to trace Kasim’s call detail records (CDR) to identify his network both in India and Pakistan.
The crackdown comes as part of the wider ‘Operation Sindoor’, under which law enforcement agencies across various states are targeting suspected Pakistani agents. On May 18, Haryana Police arrested several individuals linked to espionage for Pakistan. Among those caught in the spotlight is YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who has been accused of spying against India.
Malhotra was remanded to judicial custody by Hisar District Court on May 26, with the first hearing of her case set for June 9.
