Rajasthan School Roof Collapse: Following the collapse of roof of a school in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar on Friday morning which claimed the lives of seven students and injuring several others. The Piplodi Primary School building came crashing down while classes were underway, trapping more than 60 students under the rubble. In the wake of the incident, five teachers have been suspended, and a high-level inquiry has been ordered by the state government.

According to a PTI report, the section of the school that collapsed was part of a four-room structure built in 1994 by the local gram panchayat. Many of the injured students were rushed to nearby hospitals as rescue efforts continued, with cranes brought in to clear the debris.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma addressed the public through a video message, calling the incident “tragic” and offering condolences to the grieving families. “I am saddened by the death of innocent children in this incident. The state government is with the family members of those who are affected by this… The administration has been directed to provide better treatment for the injured,” he said.

He also confirmed that Health Minister Madan Dilawar was sent to the site to assess the situation first-hand. "The state government has directed district collectors to ensure that no building is in a state of disrepair. An investigation will be conducted, and it will be ensured that no such incident happens again," Sharma added.

The sudden collapse of the building led to widespread anger in the local community. A large crowd gathered at the site, reportedly vandalising police vehicles. Stone pelting was also reported, prompting authorities to use mild force to control the situation.

The fatal incident occurred around 8:30 am, just after the school day had begun. Initial reports suggest that heavy rains may have weakened the structure, which was already in a dilapidated condition. Students were attending their classes when the roof gave way, catching everyone off guard. Panic quickly spread among villagers, who rushed to the scene to help with rescue efforts. Anxious families waited outside the school, hoping for good news about their children.

The Rajasthan Education Department confirmed the loss of seven young lives and stated that many others were injured in the collapse.
