Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced on Tuesday that the state government decided to ban molesters and rapists from government jobs. He said that the state government will keep a record of such miscreants in police stations like history-sheeters and this will be mentioned on their character certificate issued by the state government or police.

According to an official statement, the chief minister instructed the police officers to take strict action against the miscreants by launching a special campaign and said that the prevention of crimes against women and weaker sections is his government’s top priority. The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to ensuring the safety and dignity of women and girls in the state.

“The state government has decided that molesters, rape accused and miscreants will be banned from government jobs. For this records of such miscreants will be kept in police stations like history-sheeters and this will be mentioned on their character certificate issued by the state government/police. Social boycott of such anti-social elements is necessary,” Ashok Gehlot wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

CM Gehlot also stated that strict action will be taken against the bars and nightclubs which open for more than the stipulated time. Along with the managers of these clubs, the responsibility of the owners will also be fixed and the license of such clubs will be cancelled for violating the rules.

The announcement came amid constant allegations of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over deteriorating law and order and rising cases of crimes against women in the state. Meanwhile, CM Gehlot rejected these allegations, claiming that the Rajasthan Police have been more prompt and effective in dealing with any crime than the police of other states.

Describing the incident of rape and murder of a minor in Bhilwara as tragic, the chief minister said that the police have acted swiftly in this case and are trying to bring the culprits to justice as soon as possible.“Efforts are being made to give political colour to the incident, which is unjustified,” he said.
