In an unusual incident on Monday, February 3, a 24-year-old man previously believed to have died during a police encounter was found to be alive and remains at large. The accused, identified as Rudresh alias RDX, was assumed to have been killed in an encounter after he was cornered by Kota Police at a house in the city’s Naya Nohra area along with an accomplice.

During the operation, a man inside the house reportedly shot himself in the face that led to the severe disfigurement. The deceased was then misidentified as Rudresh, since some of his belongings were found nearby.

However, on Monday, the deceased was confirmed to be Pritam Goswami, alias TT, a resident of Bundi district with over 15 criminal cases against him.

Rudresh informed a friend early Monday that he is alive and the information was subsequently given to Rudresh's family by him, news agency PTI quoted Deputy Superintendent of Police Lokendra Paliwal.

CCTV footage of the scene revealed that Rudresh escaped from the hideout minutes before the police arrived. During the raid, police recovered three weapons from the house.

Rudhresh, along with his three aides, was wanted in connection with a January 26 incident. During the incident, the group of four, allegedly fired a gun at the brother of a pan shop owner in the Mahaveer Nagar Police Station area. While traveling in a car, the group demanded cigarettes from the shop owner. When he refused, one of them fired, injuring the owner's brother, Pavan Singh.

Singh is currently receiving treatment at New Medical College Hospital. One of the four, Rajneesh Poter, has already been arrested. Rudresh remains at large, and a manhunt is underway to apprehend him.
