Rajasthan is expected to experience continued rainfall and thunderstorms across various regions this week, driven by the influence of western disturbance, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday.

Strong thunderstorms and rainfall are likely to occur in the southern and eastern parts of Rajasthan over the next four to five days, offering relief from the ongoing heatwave conditions.

The IMD stated that the western disturbance continues to persist as a circulation system over Pakistan, Punjab, and the adjoining northwest regions of Rajasthan. Additionally, one circulation system is situated over northeast Rajasthan, while another is located over southwest Rajasthan.

Rajasthan Districts To Experience Rainfall And Thunderstorms

Strong thunderstorms, accompanied by winds gusting at speed of 50 to 60 km per hour and moderate to heavy rainfall are expected in parts of Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Ajmer decisions on Monday, due to the influence of the circulation system. 

Heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places in southern Rajasthan on Monday, he said.

Yesterday Rajasthan witnessed a sudden shift in weather, providing much-needed relief from the intense heat. On Saturday, several areas across the state experienced rainfall and hailstorms, causing a sharp drop in temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has now issued a rain alert for 11 districts, warning of heavy showers and strong winds in the coming days.

Despite the rain showers, several cities in Rajasthan experienced high temperatures. Chittorgarh recorded the highest daytime temperature at 43 degree celsius, while nine other cities experienced temperatures exceeding 41 degree celsius. Phalodi registered the highest night temperature at 31.8 degree celsius.
