Rajasthan news: Disheartened over not being able to give birth to a son, a 22-year-old woman ended the life of her 17-day-old newborn girl child by throwing her in a water tank in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. According to police, the woman wished to give birth to a son but had a daughter instead. The woman closed the lid of a water tank after drowning the baby girl into a water tank.
Kotwali Station House Officer (SHO) Narayan Singh said Aachki Devi (22), from Shri Ram Colony, threw her 17-day-old daughter into a water tank on Sunday when she could not give birth to a son.
The woman was arrested on Monday after a case of murder was registered against her following a complaint by her husband. She was produced before the court that sent her to judicial custody, SHO Singh added.
The woman’s husband reported the incident to police after the accused mother narrated her crime to one of her acquaintances.
