Ram Navami: As several organisations planning Ram Navami processions across West Bengal, the state police has been placed on high alert to prevent any potential communal tensions ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Today, the country is celebrating Ram Navami which is a Hindu festival. A senior police official stated that no public display of weapons would be permitted during the processions and that strict action would be taken if anyone was found violating regulations or attempting to disturb public order.
"No public display of weapons during processions will be allowed. Some traditional groups and akharas have been given permission (to take out processions). Every procession will be videographed. If anyone is found breaking rules or trying to create law and order problems, they will not be spared," said a senior police official, as quoted by The Indian Express.

These Areas On High Alert
District administrations in Hooghly, Howrah, Uttar and Dakshin Dinajpur, Asansol, and Barrackpore, areas that have previously experienced communal tensions during Ram Navami, have been placed on alert. Additionally, several political leaders are expected to participate in these processions and are also likely to take out rallies on Ram Navami as well.
Hindu Jagaran Manch Processions
The Hindu Jagaran Manch, affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has announced 5,000 religious processions at various levels, including district, ward, and panchayat levels. Significant processions are anticipated in locations such as Barasat, Siliguri, and Kolkata's Ram Mandir in Burrabazar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of plotting to halt the festivities, while Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that the BJP was planning to spark riots in the state ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
