Retired Army Brigadier VK Joshi Shot Dead In Dehradun During Road Rage Firing

A 70-year-old retired army brigadier VK Joshi was allegedly shot dead in the Rajpur area in Dehradun on Monday morning. Officials report that gunfire broke out during an argument between individuals in two vehicles.

The incident occurred between 6:45 am and 7:00 am. The violence stemmed from an altercation between two groups of men traveling in separate Vehicles in Johri village. One was Delhi-registered SUV and another was Dehradun-registered SUV. The dispute escalated into a high-speed chase, during which occupants of one vehicle opened fire on the other.

During this exchange of gunfire, brigadier VK Joshi who had stepped out for his morning walk sustained a gunshot wound. Although he was rushed for medical attention, he sustained serious injuries and later succumbed to them while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Search Operation Underway

Dehradun SP Pramod Kumar says, the police have established blockades across all police station jurisdictions, including rural areas. An intensive search operation is currently underway to locate the vehicle and apprehend the individuals involved; the police anticipate that they will soon effect arrests and initiate further legal proceedings.
