Gurugram News: A shocking incident has come to light from Rohtak, where a woman died after being allegedly set on fire by her husband following an argument. The confrontation began with an argument at the couple's in-laws' house and quickly escalated into an assault. The man allegedly doused his wife with petrol and then set her ablaze.

The victim was undergoing treatment at the Rohtak PGI, where she succumbed to her burn injuries on Monday. The woman's parents filed a complaint, after which the Bhondsi police registered a case and arrested the accused.

Man Sets His Wife Ablaze Over Altercation With In-Laws

The deceased woman, identified as 37-year-old Neetu, was a resident of Raisina in the Bhondsi area, Jagran.com reported. She was married to Anand, a resident of Raisina, 16 years ago. Detailing the incident, Neetu said that on the night of November 30th, Anand came home intoxicated, initiated a fight, and then assaulted her.

The assault quickly escalated when Anand took petrol from a parked motorcycle, sprinkled it on her, and used a lighter to set her on fire. As she ran into the street engulfed in flames, she was spotted by her father-in-law and other family members. A report of a woman with burn injuries was received at Sohna Hospital on December 1.

She was initially undergoing treatment in Gurugram and was later referred to Rohtak PGI, where she succumbed to her burn injuries on Monday.

Following the incident, the police arrested the accused husband, Anand, from Raisina village on Monday, the report added. During interrogation, Anand stated that he had an altercation with his in-laws that took place during his sister-in-law's wedding a few days earlier. Holding onto his grudge, he assaulted Neetu and then set her on fire.
