Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday stated that all the atrocities in the world in the name of religion have taken place because of misunderstanding and lack of depth of knowledge about the religion. He further urged the people associated with religious teachings to give right teachings to the people.

Bhagwat made these remarks while addressing the Mahanubhav Ashram Shatakpurti Samaroh in Maharashtra's Amravati on Sunday. He emphasised that half knowledge of "dharma" is very lethal, and it is "adharma".

"There have been atrocities in the world due to misunderstanding of religion. It is necessary to have a society that interprets religion correctly. Religion is very important; it should be taught properly. Religion has to be understood; if it is not understood properly, then half knowledge of religion will lead to 'Adharma'," RSS chief was quoted as saying by ANI.

Bhagwat further affirmed that religion has always existed, and it governs the working of the world. He stated that because of its forever existence, it is called "Sanatan" (eternal). He also said that the practice of religion itself ensures its protection.

Last week, Bhagwat clarified that few individuals are trying to project themselves as 'leaders of Hindus' by raising the temple issues. He also expressed concern over the revival of the temple-mosque disputes and said that public representatives should be more responsible.

While delivering a lecture on ‘India - The Vishwaguru,’ Bhagwat said that an inclusive society is important, and it is important for showing the world that Indians can live together in peace and harmony.

“We have lived in harmony for centuries. To offer this harmony to the world, we must create a model for it. After the Ram Mandir’s construction, some individuals think they can become leaders of Hindus by raising similar issues in new locations. This is not acceptable,” Bhagwat said.
